Hailing from Tainan, Taiwan, GorDoN, aka Dr. Paper, is rooted in classic hip-hop styles, and cites Eminem and Nas as major early influences. GorDoN’s smooth delivery owes to his deft ability to make Mandarin Chinese lyrics fit just about any groove. A chemistry graduate from Taiwan’s top university who also spent time in New York City, GorDoN has long kept up an underground/DIY approach that has earned him a widespread, rabidly loyal fanbase in Taiwan and China. His music has spawned large online communities devoted to parsing and analyzing his output. Shortly after joining KAO!INC. in 2007, he released his “Dr. Paper” series of mixtapes, which immediately sold out and are considered classics today.
